How to use Google to expand your business.

Google undoubtably is the biggest and most used search engine across the world. In our household, we hear the phrase “just google it” all the time.

To expand and grow your business you will want to rank high on Google so that you get a high volume of visitors to your website. This is known as SEO (search engine optimisation).

How do you do this? Well, it is overwhelming especially if you don’t know much about website design and computers in general. We have one tip for you.

Think mobile friendly. One way to use google to expand your business expand is to make sure your website is mobile friendly and fully responsive to different screen sizes. Google’s bot that it uses to crawl your website is their mobile bot and they want all websites to be mobile friendly as the majority of users are now using mobile phones to conduct most searches.

Google has a few tools that can help you to see how well your website is getting visitors and see what search terms users are using to find your website as well as testing your website for mobility issues. There are two tools that we use all the time and they are Google Analytics and Google Search Console. Google Search Console used to be know as WebmasterTools. We also recommend that you have Google My Business. This helps with local searches as well as being able to share photos and posts.

One thing you need to remember is that when ranking high on Google, it is a marathon and not a sprint. When we help businesses rank own Google, we do see great increases after a few weeks, usually ranking between 8th position and 15th. But it roughly takes 100 days to get to the top 3 positions. When we use our SEO tools we can see that the top 3 positions get the most traffic.

Here’s an example. For the search term ‘wedding videographer south wales’. Position one has 100 visitors per month, position two has 45 and position three has 32, the in drastically drops position four 22, position five 18, position six 11. I know where I would like to be. Getting the 100 visitors a month.
